5 Reasons I'm NOT Angry with Delta

UPDATE: 10:30 PM- LUGGAGE HAS ARRIVED! Praise the Lord!
And foof my hair!

Dear Delta Airlines,

While I sit here without makeup and with wet hair, I am coming to terms with the fact that my luggage and any shot of me going into the public today is gone. I know it could possibly be in Timbuktu or Tulsa, but I'm holding out hope that it's at the airport. And going to be delivered here at my home any minute... yes, any time now would be great.

Please know, though, that I'm not angry. After a wonderful weekend of (in)couraging speakers, writers and bloggers at She Speaks {full post to follow- when camera cord arrives in suitcase}, I have too much to be thankful for. Here are the top 5 reasons I'm choosing not to be angry with Delta:

5) You got me home safely. After delays, flight changes, maintenance and checking a hole in the wing I am finally home.{!! How would you feel when they ANNOUNCED that last bit to all the PASSENGERS on the plane?? I think the "open information policy" might need revisiting.}

4) I got small little glasses of Coke in flight. I never get a full blown Classic Coke, but I REALLY love it. And I got it in a very small glass, so it actually didn't count.

3) This is very hard to admit, but while waiting at the airport, I bought the People magazine with the Saved by the Bell gang on the front. I had to do it. Mr. Belding made me. The article wasn't amazing or as in depth as the show was {*ahem*}, but it was a nice walk down memory lane {without my acid washed jeans}.

2 and 1)
So, in conclusion Delta, I am not going to write you any hate mail and I tried to exude Grace, Grace, Grace while waiting for luggage and talking with your staff about the size and shape of my bag that has my name on it . If you will please just return my hair product, we'll call it even.

Thank you,

That is the worst!! I hate that feeling of watching too and then realizing all the bags are, in fact, out for your flight...
On a funny note, my sister and I were checking out a Publix yesterday and I said the same thing...I HAVE TO BUY THIS MAGAZINE!! I was really disappointed that it didn't really give us any good scoop on them, though.

How do you keep from just eating your little one's cheeks ALL THE TIME? They are so delightfully chubby and delicious!

Oh that is no fun! That happened to me a few years ago when Dad and I took a trip to NY right before Sept. 11th. We were stuck in LaGuardia airport for 14 hours due to cancelled flights. We jumped on a random plane to Atl in the middle of the night that had two seats available, and had no clue where our luggage was. It showed up at our door about 2 weeks later. Hopefully you'll get yours back alot sooner!! :)

Well, an even worse scenrio is being in a hotel room, miles from home, without your luggage... That means, no clean clothes (ummm, I like clean underwear), makeup, or hair products... We were told that they deliver luggage to homes then hotels. WHAT??? People at home usually have another change of clothes or access to a toothbrush. Duh. Anyway, hope your luggage does arrive soon!

mine was lost once and Amex gave me $500 and Delta $25 per day. $25 day won't buy underwear much less makeups and etc when you are on the coast in Callie. The unfortunate part was that the only clothes I could find that were worth buying and fit were at Ann Taylor and their twins were already in my bag with tags removed. It was a huge delimma but it turned out ok after a few days. luckily (or unluckily) it was a week long trip. My brother finally had to drive to the huntsville airport, pick up the bag with my name and say 'here it is' and then they sent it to me in CAlifornia. uggghhhh

Better to lose it (luggage, that is) coming home rather than going to. I know that's not much consolation. Anyway, it was so much fun meeting you at She Speaks and being in your evaluation group. I just know that God has big things planned for you. Fasten your seat belt sister.

Hope your hair is drying without frizzing, and you get your luggage back today.

You're so sweet to grant Delta grace becuase a southern gal's gotta have her hair utensiles. How else will we accomplish #1 on our daily to-do list: Fix BIG hair.

So great to meet you this weekend - liked you instantly!

Hillary- glad you are giving grace to Delta. I just want to remind you that YOU were the one who introduced me to that certain HILARIOUS Delta ad in college.

About 3 years ago I adopted the 'no check' rule for this very reason! I travel so much that I learned the hard way and now I make it a challenge for me to travel with only the 2 bags allowed as carry on. And believe me...I can push the limits on that 'personal' item allowed :). When the limitations were put on liquids I panicked for a moment and then considered it a challenge to beat! So 2 days to 2 weeks, I figure out a way to make it happen. Oh..and the People magazine is my 'stuck at the airport' treat!

Oh, my sweet friend. I’m so sorry to hear that your ride home was, well, worse than mine on Friday. If only I’d known . . . I would have given you my copy of People that I bought while waiting for my Friday morning flight. :) You are smart – grace is good.

Hey, Hillary, cute blog you have! Thanks for stopping by, I see you were at She Speaks, lucky girl, wish I could have gone too.

I'm going to head up to Gadsden, AL (I live in B'ham) so will catch a few miles up that way before I head back home. I won't be able to go really far. Can't wait!

ugh! that happened to me, but my luggage didn't make it to my destination. I wore my loungy pants outfit and tennis shoes and was supposed to have some time to shower and dress before a lunch. We were on a conference for my husband's business. So I went in my scrungy clothes for lunch. Thankfully my bag made it late afternoon before the dressy-ish dinner!

I wasn't as graceful in what I had to say about the airline LOL - cute post, as usual :)

You, my friend, crack me up. I love your way with words...and your wit!
And believe you me, I bought the Saved by the Bell People mag too! How could I not? Just seeing the cover took me back to Saturday mornings with Zac, Kelley, and Screech.
It also took my mind to places where it probably shouldn't go....such as "hmmm....I wonder if Target has the entire series on DVD yet..."
Although that would be a DE-lite-ful guilty pleasure, I'm not sure it's a super use of my time!
Love ya girl, and I am praying for your ministry!

I'm laughing out loud here, sister. What a disgrace, disgrace, disgrace! You are absolutely adorable, and I can't wait to see what the Lord has planned for you. It was a highlight of my weekend to meet you. :D

I just have to laugh at number 5. When I was flying home from Raleigh Sunday (after a flight delay of 2 hours) they announce that they "Had the proper equiptment to fully change the tire now and would be boarding soon."

Wha?

So very honored to meet you this weekend and can I say that your blog design is to. die. for!

Hillary,
I'm not mad at Delta either even though we circled the Atlanta airport for thirty minutes and then got delayed for two hours. Because at least I got to see you before I left NC and eat fried chicken and BBQ right beside you, being the sweet southern girls we are! You're a sweetheart and it was great hanging out at She Speaks!

Funny...we refuse to fly Delta because they have lost our bags twice. The first time was from LA (after arriving from Australia) and it didn't arrive for three days. My husband had to wear my dad's clothes (whom he'd just met). Funny. The second time they lost it was on our way LA to catch a flight to Australia. It didn't make the Qantas flight and Qantas gave us money on the other end. Never has Delta ever accomodated us. Whatever, not mad either, just won't ever fly them again.

Funnily enough, the 2nd time we originally had a United flight that was canceled and had to get another flight. Delta was all that was available and I said to my husband, "They are going to lose our bags". Self-fulfilling prophecy? Or are they just crap at baggage?
