Friday Favorites:: A Weekly Carnival!

Well paint my door red and call me Elizabeth Arden!
I'm so excited about starting a weekly carnival that I don't quite know what to do with myself.
Thanks for being here and a very special thank you to everyone participating!

This week, my favorite thing has been shopping for consignment sale clothes for my children. Sad, but true. AND I even did it on a budget of all things.

But I stood in line, ran inside and dug through clothes with the rest of the looneys moms who love a good bargain.
The best part about this particular sale is that the people who run it are fantastic. They are always positive, encouraging and look to be a blessing to moms {both selling and purchasing}. And they don't make fun of us for bringing in things like backyard garbage cans to cart away our goods. Not that I know anyone who would do that.

The first thing I ran to purchase was this Pottery Barn Kids shelf. For $14!! The one I have is not as wide, but it is the same cool shelf that I've been eyeing in PBK for a while. {And if you think I have any sort of kick back from that link or the links to come, you would be incorrect. But I'll take PBK dollars if they are offering!}

Next, I hauled my big trash can myself to the clothes section. My plan {you must have one} was to shop for Ollie first, then the new baby girl, then Henry- because it's harder to find big boys clothes and Henry has ALL of Ollie's hand me downs {right size and season! The jackpot!!}. And there were a TON of baby girl clothes; I'm sure that doesn't surprise you.

Here's what I found, my favorite things this week:

I bought this super cute spring shirt and sweater {$10 for combo} for Ollie with some lightweight Ralph Lauren khaki pants {$12- they were brand new} that I'm pretty sure we'll wear for our spring pictures with Melissa. {Drill also came from sale and it was my bribe to get children to stand still.}
March 10 013

I apologize if this picture of my child's hiney offends you, but look at these cute shorts! They are T. F. Laurence {a great brand that I have never heard of- meaning they are much nicer than Circo, apparently- and I got them for $9}.
March 10 020

Then for little Henry, I couldn't help but purchase these madras plaid patchwork {is that what you'd call them?} pants from the Gap {$9, peeps!}.
March 10 030

Are these fun or what?
March 10 060

I also got him the cutest little whale shorts that a handy man could wear. They even had tags still on them! I can't remember the brand, but I'm pretty sure they were $4!Whale of an outfit

And poor baby girl, she might have gotten a few things herself.
I possibly purchased a few pink things: {all priced between $3- $8}
Pink parade

And a few cute shoes {how much fun are those fur booties; they're Robeez- our favorites!} {White flower shoes were $4 and brand NEW Robeez were $7.}
Shoe cuteness

And, okay, fine. I got her a few other outfits. Ralph Lauren, Gap, Zutano {another fav}{all between $3- $8}- you name it! Girls clothes are SO much more fun than polos and shorts.
What's a girl to wear?

But I wouldn't necessarily call it "overboard". I mean she doesn't have a stitch of clothing, remember? She has to wear something, right? And we most definitley don't want people calling her a boy, so pink and florals are everywhere. Actually, that's all there was to choose from! But I loved every minute of it.

But the pink aisle is much more intimidating. There are a few more elbows thrown and a much greater knowledge of brand names. I had never heard of Baby Lulu before the other night {For Shame!}. But I think I can get the hang of this.

Now the budget...that's a completely different issue.

So, what's been your favorite thing this week?
Favorite time with family/ friends? Favorite show {Hello! Jim and Pam just had their baby!}? Favorite recipe?
Let me know on your own blog or in the comments section.

Here's how to link to the carnival:
1. Write your post with your Friday Favorite and then click on the title on your post. That will show you JUST the URL {address} to your own post {if you have Wordpres or Typepad, you should be fancy enough to figure that out all by yourself; I don't know how to do it for those}.
2. Click on the "You Are Next" button below.
3. Copy and paste that address into the URL line. Then in the Title {first blank}, write something with your name and some info about your Friday Favorite. For example, mine would be, "Hillary @ The Other Mama {Consignment Sale Finds}" or something really unique and clever like that.
4. Be sure to have a link to this post in YOUR post so people can find other Friday Favorites. I'm so sure you all would be friends! I can't wait for you to meet!
5. Go visit other sites listed and be sure to leave a comment.

Have fun! I can't wait to see your Friday Favorites!

I did the same thing yesterday! I LOVE consignment sales, but this spring I am only doing the one at our church. I have many, many hand-me-downs so I really didn't even need to go to that one. It's so much fun, though!
You found some great things! And, yes, Baby Lulu is precious. Sometimes you can even find it at Costco. I found some cute things, too, and I can't wait to see my children wearing them! Now, we just need the weather to cooperate.

Love Love Love those patchwork shorts and pants! If your boys decide that they don't like them, tell them you know a super hip amazing cool BIG teen boy who loves shorts like that and wears them all the time.

BTW - your boys are so adorable.

*sigh* I wish I had known about consignment sales when my kids were little. Did they even exist back then? We got through with lots of hand-me-downs from cousins and friends.

As always, I love stopping by because you are always great for a chuckle!

My husband used to work for Dave Ramsey so we are all about budgets, used cars and envelopes.

I sent you my email address yesterday, but realized later that I didn't tell you who I was...hopefully you made the connection. LOL

Have a great day!

I heart the boys' pants and it goes w/o saying that all girl clothes are inherintly (sp?) cute:) Glad you stuck to your {trash can} budget:)

I am thinking about what I'm going to post right now. Love the plaid pants. Shopping for a girl is much more fun than shopping for boys, although Etsy provides much more variety. Fun post!

Great shopping, girl. I am proud of you and your baby girl will be so very stylish! And, you are right, with boy clothes, either it buttons or it doesn't. However, boy clothes are cute, just not as fun as girl clothes!

Dontcha just love consignment sales. They're like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get unless you buy a Whitman's Sampler and they tell you on the lid.

My favorite of your finds is the madras pants. I would so love that pattern in pajamas. Henry looks super, super cute in them!!

My friends do Klassy Kids, the consignment sale similar to this one in Huntsville too. I heart the whale pants!

SCORE on the baby shoes. I love me some Robeez.

Our sales started this week, too, but the motherload one is next weekend. I've called in the mom and the mom-in-law as reinforcements. Any sale that requires over 2400 round trip miles of travel MUST be a big deal, right? =)

I've had so much fun getting comments from Favorit Friday. I love your finds at the consignment sale. Let me give you a warning about Zutano...I love their clothes, but some of their things run small...I've decided their model baby has a long torso and stump legs. My daughter is 15mths old and the 18-24mth overalls are too short already. Looking forward to next week!

I love the clothes - especially those Gap pants! Sam had something similar-ish from Gymboree last year. Girls are so much fun to dress. And since mine is running short in the hair department, we definitely have lots of pink.

Looking forward to more favorites!

I LOVE buying my daughter's clothes. The boys section must be visited, but it bores me. My poor boys...
