Happy Holidays!

I'm a big fan of improvising. I hope you are, too!
This picture is from this morning- end of May- with Christmas muffin holders {they're just going to be thrown away anyway, right?}. This doesn't bother me at all and I find myself doing more goofy things like this all the time.

I have been known to:
- Buy girls shorts {for my boys} in a pinch and tear the ruffle out of them
- Use wet wipes to make hair flat {not mine- or Jason's for that matter}, clean toilets and floors and dust
- Safety pin my pants together for church. {There was a big hole in the seam around my inner thigh. I know the Lord is against fleshly thoughts and this would have been A LOT of flesh... I don't think people would have been able to concentrate on the sermon.}

Funny thing about all this is that there was a time when I was APPALLED when my mother did possibly might have done such things. I clearly remember her scotch taping the hem of her skirt before church one day and I just knew she was crazy and I was mortified.

Oh my. It has come to this. I guess there are much worse things to be in life than what is staring at you in the mirror- your MOTHER.

Love you, Mom! Happy Friday!

What have you improvised with lately?

mmmhmm...i do that wet wipes one alllll the time. for all of the same uses. i'm using baby food jars in part of the goodies i'm giving away at ACs party. after i washed them, all the goo wouldn't come off from the label. and who has time to scrape it all off? so...i'm just gonna slap another label on top that says "best wishes and butterfly kisses love ally claire" on it. i'm putting candles in the jars and her theme is butterflies. does that count?

Latest improv was my husband's...our niece came to visit and her car died and had to be repaired. So that she could continue her trip, we loaned her our 'plan B' car. However, the window won't stay up. His clever solution? He cut up a wine cork and wedged it in to make the window stay up! Can you say white trash? Ha!

I could use wet wipes to clean all of my floors! What a wonderful invention. Can't think of my last improvisation, but I love your list. Bet the kids loved the cupcakes and the reminder of winter! :)

I'm just impressed you are still cooking.... and I put scotch tape on the hem of Julia's dress for her PORTRAITS on Tuesday. Mama can't sew well enough to mend yet and she was wearing that dress dang it. Good to talk to you the other day if only for a minute!

I could copy your post and just write my name on it! My favorite pair of black pants has lots the him on the left leg. I always forget this fact until the moment I put them on...then I grab the double sided tape! We also have a car window that won't stay up. We took a clothes pin, broke it apart and wound electrical tape, then wedged it in tract. Wipe have great uses!

Oh yeah, just thought of a major one! Our laptop some how got broken at the swivel point (it is one the the screen swivels so that you can actually write on screen). It no longer sits up on its own and is only held together by cords....so I have to prop it up with what ever I can find...)Yesterday I used the boppy! My don't we sound like everything is falling apart!

Hmmm...forget the tape, I've stapled the hem on my pants. Also, my husband is a stickler for expiration dates so I once remedied the date with a pen. It wasn't a major extention on the date, but I probably entered a new category with this one.

Hey.
Okay, 31. How do you remember that? I guess I didn't count the exchange students. =)
Yes, that's Lindsay. She is adorable with that baby. No, she doesn't blog...she doesn't facebook or anything. It's just not her thing, I guess. She does email out adorable pictures of her baby though! Me, Holly and Angie keep up with her the most I think.
Grad was so fun. Mr. Pelham and Mr. Jenne like DON'T AGE.

Those holiday muffins look yummy and for a moment there I started singing "I'm Dreaming of A White Christmas" and then my AC cut on and reminded me of how dadgum hot is.
BTW, those wipes are great for auto detailing as well. I might have used them once or twice in a carpool line. Did you know that scotch tape will hold a side mirror on an SUV....for months?

totally guilty of the safety pinning the pants thing :)

I safety pinned the straps on a Strasburg overalls outfit to take up the slack (they run so darn big) before a picture session because I failed to preplan and actually TRY ON the outfit in the weeks before the actual day of. Fortunately, I was able to hide it pretty well and it doesn't show in any of the pics :)
You might enjoy this funny wall plaque I once saw and need myself, "Mirror, mirror on the wall, I am my mother after all."

You make my day!
I'd hug you, but this screen makes it a little awkward.
