A Backwards Robe? A Blanket? Nooo... It's a

Do you love infomercials? I have a sickening affection for them. My favorite part is when the actor {always in black and white} is having a terrible time changing the channel/ chopping tomatoes/cleaning spills - what would seem to be an easy every day task. But NOW, with the help of THIS NEW PRODUCT, your life can be so much EASIER {and in color, of course}.

I don't think I've ever actually bought one of these items from an 800 # {Call NOW!!} on TV, but I've had a few "As seen on TV" items in my day. By far, my most favorite is my most recent purchase: The Snuggie. I'm sure you've seen the commercials for this blanket with sleeves and possibly the parody of it {I won't link to it because it's has a bit of profanity, but if you can handle that, then you would get a kick out of it on YouTube}.

I heard about a collegiate version of the Snuggie from my friend Brenda on Facebook and immediately went down to the Hancock's Fabrics to pick one up for myself.

Snuggie box

Because one can never have too much college paraphernalia in the football season.

While I decided not to "Take It Everywhere" just yet, I can tell you for sure is that I love it.

It's perfect for lounging on the sofa reading the latest Southern Living.

Snuggie 1

Or changing the channels with the remote control without letting your arms into the cold, brisk air

Snuggie 2

But what to do if the phone rings? Well you answer it with ease, of course, within the warmth of your Snuggie.

Snuggie 3

And if a dog needs to jump in your lap? Well, they are right at home in the soft fleece of the Snuggie.

Snuggie 4

There are just too many options here. You can't go wrong with the Snuggie. {Special thanks to my hubs here for taking these goofy staged pictures and laughing at with me.}

So, yes, it's basically a robe put on backwards and marketed to make you purchase it as a wonder-blanket. And I bought one and love it. Because I'm a sucker.

But I'm a warm sucker who has typed this whole post within the comfort of my Snuggie on the sofa. You know you're jealous.

So, what's your favorite infomercial?
Do you have a Snuggie?

What is your favorite Billy Mays product? And you can't all say the Shamwow.

Well, I have a slap chop waiting to be returned to Walmart...found out that Mighty Putty isn't so great, Barry's Bootcamp is impossible, and played poker with deal a meal. I don't own a snuggie or bumpits, although I would have purchased them had my husband not laughed so hard at the commercials. I was addicted to Pitchmen, and would get on the internet after each show to see what products were still available. And finally, I have an "H2O Mop" that I have owned for over a year with the best of intentions to use, but have never brought it up out of it's box. I think I may have a slight As Seen On TV addiction...

Ha! I did a post on the Snuggie and the Slanket awhile back on my blog! You MUST go back and find it. Not sure which month, but I'll let you know. You DO look comfy and oh so stylish. Have a great week!

You are too crazy. I am smiling from ear to ear right now at your pictures.
I bought Taebo with Billy Blanks years ago when I was in college. Still have them actually, but they are VHS, so they just occupy a space in the entertainment center.

Love it! Perfect way to start the week.... with lots of laughs!! My favorite infomercial originally aired when i was in middle school, but lately I have seen the commercials on TV, which makes me giggle... it's the "help! i've fallen and i can't get up!".

The pictures are cracking me up! I bet that Snuggie would be so much warmer in Crimson! :P

The only thing I ever bought that was "as seen on TV" was a Topsie Turvey. And, while I did have tomatoes this summer, I'll just be planting them in the ground next time!

My kids LOVE infomercials. They are constantly telling me that we NEED something... they are both in love with the Pancake Puff.

I am so relieved to hear of a product like this that turns out to be EXACTLY like they claim it is on TV! I had a bad experience with two TV products, The Firm and The Body Shaper. Oh, the shame...

You are cracking me up with those pics!

That's awesome! I don't have any fun infomercial finds, but I am thinking of buying some bump-its... (Horrible name, huh?!) :) Enjoy your cozy day!

LOVE the pics! Gotta say my fave may also be the snuggie. I would have said the magic bullet, but the motor burned out on two of them!

My favorite "As Seen on TV" product is by far the Hercules Hooks! They are amazing! Everything on our walls has been hung with Hercules Hooks! You should definitely try them!

Laura said...

Great marketing pix there, sister! The colors are almost right - the blue is just a tad too dark for me.

But it's only September. How can you possibly be cold enough for a snuggie in September? Last time I checked, Alabama is in the south.

Yes, I've seen Gator snuggies, but I'm resisting the tug at my wallet. Maybe I'll get one for Christmas.

Oh Goodness...it's still too hot to even consider a blanket, even a spiffy one with infomercial backing.

My favorite Billy Mayes item? Oxy-clean! Back in the old days, before mass marketing slung it onto WalMart shelves, it was an infomercial staple. LOVE LOVE LOVE the stuff! It really works and will remove just about any stain from any thing!

I don't have a snuggie, but I'm like you I'm a sucker for infomercials!! My favorite is the easy pasta cooker, cause you can't cook pasta easily in just 8 minutes...HaHaHaHa!!

Love the staged pictures too!!

Hillary,
You are too funny! This post was very timely, as I had just finished watching an infomercial for a new & improved Magic Bullet Blender/Chopper/Juicer! I was thinking about how it was a guilty pleasure of mine to watch cooking infomercials and then your post appeared!

My favorite Billy Mays product is Oxi-clean. I really love the Baby Oxi-clean!

My worst AS Seen on TV purchase was the Aqua-Globes. Actually my husband got them for me for Christmas, but I had been dropping major hints! They didn't work at all!

And probably the funniest one, and the only one I ever actually ordered from a commercial, was Daren's Dance Grooves! That was a classic! Imagine a roomful of guys in their late twenties, learning the N'Sync dance to Bye! Bye! Bye! So funny!
Thanks for the laugh today!

You are cracking me up! Now you just need a picture of you in the snuggie, using a shamwow while you wash your clothes with OxyClean :)

why does someone in Alabama need a snuggie while it is still summer?

These pictures had me laughing out loud, and at the moment babyG is going crazy saying "IS THAT AN AUBREN (her own new word) SNUGGIE!!??!!!" The Collegiate snuggies were big news on the radio here in Tuscaloosa, I heard about them on several stations. You are right, you just can't get enough SEC gear!!

Jenn McPherson said...

UHm, Hello where is the TSU T-Roy one??? Not that would sell like hotcakes...

Donna said...

Hill- you are absolutely right in buying this snuggie. I WANT one and I'm not kidding- I know the pain and agony of removing my warm cozy arm and hand out of a blanket in order to change the channel- it's wrong- it's cruel. And don't get me started on trying to eat snacks when you are cold and just want to be covered up. Thank you Snuggie. God bless America. P.S. love the pigtails!

I secretly want a Snuggie. And I love infomercials and their strange power of making me say, "I DO need one of those!"

Melissa said...

Too funny! My husband tells me all the time that I need a snuggie! I'm always cold at night watching TV, and wind up curling into a little ball. Of course, I fall asleep and wind up with a kink in my neck. With a snuggie, I could snooze on the couch to my heart's content!

Julie said...

Ok! First off, BIlly Mays didn't do the Sham Wow (that was the Aussie guy who went to jail for beating up a hooker!), lol. I do NOT have a Snuggie, but I really want one for Xmas, in leopard print!
Love the pics!

Just too funny! WAR EAGLE...It sure is great to be an AUBURN TIGER!

Blessings,
Linda

Lora Lynn @ Vitafamiliae said...

First off, let me give you a hearty WAR EAGLE!

Second, do you remember the Tiger? It was basically two pedals for your feet and you swung them back and forth, suspended in the air. Or maybe it was called the GAzelle. Anyway, it always looked super fun.

I love the slap chop commercial! so many funny quotes from it..."Onions...you're crying already I'm crying already. Life's hard enough as it is, don't wanna cry anymore!"
