"Well paint my door red and call me Elizabeth Arden!" I have had so much fun this week! I'm a little down that the week is over, but I'm on birthday overload, so it might be time to rest!
But I fully expect 172 comments when I get back to regular posting and not giving anything away next week, okay?
Now, if you are a regular blog reader, you might have asked yourself, "What the heck happened to Hillary's kitchen remodel?" Or maybe you have your own life to keep track of. But there are actually several people out there who wondered about that. You peeps are so good to me.
If you have just joined this party, we started talking about and showing our walls coming down FIVE months ago. Then I started teasing you with prep shots of uba tuba granite, then partially completed granite. The truth is...
WE STILL HAVEN'T FINISHED THE KITCHEN!! {**enter "rink rink rink" sound from horror movies**}
But, I truly feel that a home is a small extension of yourself {and its a major part of me}, so since I'm focusing on home accents, today, I am biting the bullet and showing you our kitchen remodel "Almost After and Really Dirty" pictures.
For a refresher, here is a before from the living room looking into the kitchen {and I'm pretty sure I was saying the words, "Don't worry. I won't post this on the blog" as I was taking this shot}:
And here is a before from the kitchen looking into the living room {please note Easter eggs from April}:
And the after:
This has been the biggest and most wonderful change. We love that the space feels completely open {much like that of a house of this century} and that I can yell at children while I'm prepping lunches in the morning. It's perfect! And the flat top stove is so much better than MeeMaw's that I was using from 1971 {original to the house}. It has a down draft, so that leaves the space above much more open, as well.
Also, the kitchen sink and tile work {all done by Handy
Kind of.
Some days. {Tile and faucett from Lowe's.}
So there you have it folks, much like it's owner, this kitchen is a work in progress!
On to the giveaways!
Today's giveaway is a Basket of Home Accents from more of my favorite people!
* I love to decorate and make things personal. Like my little monogrammed curtain over the kitchen sink. What can I say? It makes me happy. Another thing that makes me happy is my dear friend, Sonia. If you do not know her, I am sad for you. She is that wonderful.
And she sells AWESOME Uppercase Living products. Go ahead and click over to her page if you aren't familiar with their items, but they have ADORABLE customizable wall art.
Here is a piece in my breakfast room that makes me happy whenever I see it:
Before you ask, that wall color is Deep Cowslip #5 by Laura Ashley sold at Lowe's. {Why is Lowe's not paying me??}
And that picture is Henry at 1 year. We have the same picture of Ollie in the same outfit at one year. All done by my pal Melissa.
I also love this little Welcome sign from Uppercase Living.
This is in my foyer and I just set it up there tonight, but can't wait to use it for a party {*ahem* if we ever finish our kitchen, that is* And this is for ME and Jason; please note I'm not trashing my wonderful hubs.}
It is basically like a fancy, sturdy sticker and you can put it on a wall, plaque or anything! Sonia told me that this would fit perfectly onto a plate at Wal-Mart, so I took the plunge and went to Wal-Mart this week to find it and, sure enough, it's perfect!
I literally stuck it on tonight with their little scraper while on the phone with Sonia. SUPER EASY.
I also have another big piece to go in the entryway that's not up, yet because I'm going to paint those walls another color. This is what is there right now. You can tell it's REAL high quality and I just hope that the parts that I had to GLUE on will come off.
I have raved Enough! Sonia is generously giving a $25 gift certificate to one lucky winner at her Uppercase Living Site! Please go send her some love. I promise you will NOT be disappointed.
* Next, my new friend Kasi from Southern Living at Home is donating a pair of Rosedale Planters! Aren't they so cute? I think I would put napkins and silverware in them for a party or even use them to plant some
I have long professed my love for Southern Living at Home and my absolute favorite piece is their Nativity. I got excited even thinking about getting them out for Christmas this afternoon!
Not only is Kasi giving away these awesome planters to the lucky winner, she is also GIVING US THE HOOK UP for the brand new sale items. I cannot tell you how excited I am because many of the Gail Pittman Pottery Items are on sale and it's a pattern that I have!!! YAY!
Please see the whole sale flyer here and e-mail Kasi to order your stuff ASAP. Because they sell out very quickly. And I'm serious. I will definitely be purchasing the Green Bountiful Planter {page 3} that is regularly $50 and is now $19 with some of my birthday moo-lah.
Kasi is also giving us special access to the September Specials! Here is the flyer for these DEALS!! I have wanted that Entertaining Bucket and Tray {page 2}for about 2 years and it's calling my name at $16.95.
*note: You only have to make a minimum total purchase of $29.95 to purchase the September customer specials. The sale Gail Pittman items are included in the $29.95 minimum order.
If you want in on the deals, please e-mail Kasi as soon as you can and she will make sure to get your order in!
* One more thing to complete your home accents package!
Remember my friend Holley who manages the (in)courage website? She also donated a Beautiful Pitcher from their online store!
It has John 10:10 on it and I think it's perfect-o! "I have come that they might have life and have it to the full." Amen!
Holley, you are fantabulous! Thank you!
In closing, I hope this is your pay day Friday!
Because you have some shopping to do!
And you have some commenting, because this home decor is FUN: A $25 gift certificate to Uppercase Living, a set of Adorable iron planters from Southern Living at Home and a Beautiful Pitcher from (in)courage!
My word. I hate to say there are rules, but you know there are.

Hillary, I know you must be tired after this week long birthday bash, but oh, my goodness what a fun way to celebrate! You'll just have to rest over the long holiday weekend.
I enjoy your blog so much. May God continue to bless you and yours.

Happy Birthday-- hope you had a great one!
ooooooohhh!
Just looking at what you are doing to your house makes me feel all domesticated and wanting to tear down the wall between my living room and kitchen. I've been threatening to do that for months, but feel more motivated now.
Your decorating pix look like something out of Southern Living or BHG. You are my hero.
My house needs some help. Pick me!
Kim
And I already follow (yeah, I know...) your blog.
Kim
Oh my this week has been fun! I mean I always love your blog and enjoy each post, but you've been in such a giving mood this week on YOUR birthday and that shows your true spirit. I hope that you do realize however that you can never go back to just a normal birthday week. Your peeps will be marking their calendars for years to come!
Thanks for brightening some tough days this week!
Following!
Hope you had a great birthday! I NEVER buy home accents since I became a mommy, so maybe winning some will get me inspired.

Remodels are such hard work!! We changed our garage into a master bedroom...and it took forever. It was worth the wait. My sister also came over and organized my daughter's room and kitchen. She wants to start organizing professionally, so I told her she could use my house for before and after shots. Not a bad deal on my end!! :) gbysma@yahoo.com
Hey girl! You've done a great job on this giveaway week. I'm just starting an obsession w/ vinyl lettering and will also have a giveaway coming up soon along that vein... :) Have a great weekend!
Your kitchen looks nice. And even after you mentioned them and I looked really hard, I still didn't see dirty dishes in the sink. :) Enjoy the rest of your b-day week. God bless.
You've been such a busy bee - hope you had a wonderful day yesterday!
I love your new kitchen--and the now open floor plan! Also, that uppercase living stuff is very glam. I love it.
Happy Birthday to You! (I now realize this is just a way for you get LOTS O BIRTHDAY WISHES every day....and I may have to steal your idea :)

Yeah, love the granite. You are so awesome to do the work yourselves. It will mean so much more in the long run when you see it complete. My personal goal for Labor Day is to finish the bathroom floor (which is now half tile, half grubby carpet. Seriously, who puts carpet in a bathroom anyway? Obviously they never had little boys who want to see how far back they can stand from the toilet and still hit the bowl...sigh)
Have fun coming down from the birthday/sugar high!!!
Well, congratulations on your almost finished kitchen! It looks beautiful! I love Uppercase Living!! Granted, I don't own a single thing from them, but I want to. :)
Hill, you crack me up!! I have those Rosedale planters and LOVE them. I got two sets- put candles in the small ones and all our daily bathroom products in the two big ones. Mousse and moisturizer never had it so good!
Love the kitchen - it looks pretty finished to me.
I love all of your giveaways, too. Good luck to me. Thanks so much!

Hi Hillary,
I'm finally de-lurking! But that's only because the little girl is captured by Baby Einstein. Glad to hear "Ollie" likes his new pre-k; our little man is loving Challenger Kindergarten. And I love the pics of your house; it's beautiful & calming; post more so I can find a home-peace even vicariously! (One day we'll get our master bath re-done.) Happy, happy bithday & many more (happy days as well as birthdays!) (If you can't find my e-mail address on this post, let me know in the comments. I keep up with too much other stuff, so I'm deliberately tech-inept!)
