Reporting LIVE From the Infirmary

Clean off your thermometer, go get some Pedialyte and wash everything in hot water. Our house is down with the funk. The F.O.N.K., if you will.

Thankfully, it's not our whole house, yet. But Henry has it hard and heavy and Jason and I are feeling pretty crummy {I think mine is just sinus-y, though}.

It didn't hit Henry until tonight.

We were at church and the childcare worker {who we love} came hauling cookies down the hall and across the church to tell us that Henry was tossing cookies. So then, Jason, Robin {childcare worker} and I went running like Forrest, Jen-nay and the bad guys in that truck across the church and downstairs to the childcare room to find a topless little man who was peaked and sad. He hadn't eaten any dinner and he had thrown up once. We whisked him home, gave him a bath and rocked him to sleep. He didn't want any Pedialyte, ice chips or trains, but he just wanted to cuddle and rock; VERY unlike my little man on the go. His temp was 99.4 and we gave him some Motrin {I know you all have an opinion about this, but we went with the drugs, okay?}.

The truth is, I do have one big 'ole fear: SWINE FLU. As you'll recall, our city went through a scare earlier this year and I overreacted. Neither kiddo got sick, but the news was very scary. Now "they" say it's just a little worse than the regular flu, but just in season earlier. We have the vaccine in town {I think?}, but it might be too late for that.

Would you mind saying a little prayer for Henry? I am hoping and praying he'll be fine in the morning {esp. since his fever isn't high} and just has a little bug, but I will say the stuffed animals are not taking any risks.

I'm off to Lysol down the doorknobs, phones and trains. And take We Want the Funk off my iPod.
I think it's just a jinx.

You are so good at finding the funny in every situation! I will definitely pray for your little man and pray that all those funky germs go away and don't infect the rest of you.

A little boy at our church had swine flu last week and had a very *mild* case. He was better after two days.

Yeck! I am glad you all are so far away! When one person brings it home to our place, we start buying bulk in gatorade, TP, cold meds and pain killers. And I make sure there is a bucket stationed in every room. Even the bathroom. You never know when you are going to get hit at both ends, and someone else may be taking a shower when it happens. That is no way to get clean!!! ;)

Don't freak over the swine flu. It's tearing through my kids' schools, along with Regular Flu and 'B' type, whatever the heck that is. Two of my brood have already had it, and I'm sure the rest of us will be sick within the designated incubation period.

For us, it's been just like the regular flu with a upset stomach tossed in for fun. Tamiflu helped with the sypmtoms, as did Motrin and lots of sleep.

Big prayers for you and your little guy!

I'm sorry he's been sick! Genna had it last week...low-grade fever, tummy ache, etc. and it was gone in probably less than 24 hours. Hope it's the same for him!

Ugh!!! So sorry you all got the funk! Definitely praying you're all healthy, wealthy and wise - and soon!

Or, at least, healthy.

Also. I love that you said he was peaked. (I'm assuming you pronounce that "pee-kedd." Because that's how I'm reading it and loving it.)

Oh...poor guy! I hope everyone gets better soon. In case you didn't know, I work in public health emergency response with all of our hospitals. I've been up to my neck in little piggies lately. Anyway, I thought I would let you know that the flu (seasonal and H1N1) typically have much higher fevers than you are seeing now...Also, while you can have GI symptoms with it, you have to have respiratory symptoms too. So hopefully you are in the clear -at least as far as piggies go. Also, the seasonal flu vaccine is out and about now and I recommend you all hitting up your doc or health department for that soon. The H1N1 vaccine won't be available anywhere for a few more weeks. Keep your eyes out - I'm sure you'll hear ALL about it! Let me know if I can give you any more scoop!

Get better hugs to those cute little boys...oh and you and Jason too.

ok, that picture is so funny! by the way, sprinkle a little sea salt on henry's tongue. it will help replenish the electrolytes and keep him from dehydrating.

The nasty funk has been going around at the school - VERY scary business!! Our Elem. had a few Swine cases. Prayers for the little man in a heart beat. I hope the lysol keeps the rest of you safe.

Poor buddy!!! Hopefully it's not the flu! That fever seems too low to be the flu....esp. Swine Flu.
TLH doesn't have the vaccine yet, but I've been told the first rounds are going to be the spray and they aren't giving that to children under 2...atleast that's what our ped said today!
Praying he feels better soon!!

So sorry the little guy is feeling crummy in the tummy. I pray it passes quickly.

So glad to discover your sinus crud doesn't affect your sense of humor one tee tiny bit.

Here's what I've discovered, in my years under the sun ... "We Want the Funk" brings everyone to the dance floor (all ages!) at a wedding reception. (Course not at mine, seeing as my keyboard player turned up dead.) So maybe playing it in reverse will send everyone away, including swine flu bugs. Sigh. Worth a try. :)

Oh no! I'll be watching out in our house, too. Hope everyone is better for the weekend! Give that little one extra hugs and kisses.

Even when you're traumatized by fears of "the pig", you're still funny! Just said a prayer for your precious man. I hope he gets better REALLY SOON! I have full faith that he will. I know it's no fun having a sick kiddo, though.
Asher had "the pig" last week. It wasn't as bad as the regular flu (which is what I've heard about the swine flu). It sure was sad having my precious boy sick, though.
He's all better now!
Sending love your way!!!

Sorry to hear about Henry; I'm saying prayers for him, Ollie & you two. We're just very sniffly here & mowin' thru the Kleenex. Gonna' take the crew to 1st Baptist Thursday morning to get seasonal flu shots. Keeping my fingers crossed that we don't get the "piggie," either.

Yuck, hope you all get to feeling better.
